Things to do in Maryland Oct 3-12

This past weekend I got to attend the Vehicles for Change Gala and learned some things I had to share!

Vehicles for Change takes donated cars and teaches people coming home from jail how to fix them. They learn a real trade, and then those cars get passed on to families who need them—at least 100 cars a year! Out of the thousands of people trained, only 4 have ever gone back to jail. That’s wild, right?

And the families? Their lives completely change. Most end up landing better-paying jobs because now they can actually get to opportunities outside their neighborhood. One woman shared how she was about to lose her job because of constant lateness. She got a car through Vehicles for Change—and 20 years later, she’s now the director at that same job. Talk about full circle.
