Hey Locals!

Can you believe we’re just days away from stepping into 2026? That “fresh start” feeling is officially in the air — and whether you’re planning a big New Year’s moment or keeping it low-key, I’ve rounded up places to go below to help you end the year on a high note. There are new year’s noon events for the kids and then fun unique events for you…BTW did you know Maryland has a crab drop, duck drop, key drop, donut drop and rockfish drop? Why watch a silly ball when you can see all of these things happen around Maryland.

One quick tip: this list may grow as the New Year approaches, so be sure to click “Read Online” later this week (or head to itssomewherelocal.com and open this edition) to catch any updates before locking in your plans.

Now tell me this — are you walking into 2026 ready for a reset… or more of the same? I’d genuinely love to know. Hit reply and tell me one resolution, goal, or dream you’re carrying into the new year. I’ll be cheering you on — and you might just inspire someone else reading along too.

As for me? My intention is simple: to make 2026 my best year yet — personally, professionally, and in how I give back. I’m especially excited to roll out a new series focused on showing up for people in our community and spotlighting the good happening around town.

One last thing: this is the final week for many Christmas light displays across Maryland. If you still want to squeeze in some holiday magic, I’ve got you covered

Things you should check out!

Last week we squeezed in a date day in Montgomery County, and it absolutely delivered.

We started in a heated tent at Lone Oak Brewery, then headed to a speakeasy-style spot with incredible food and cocktails at Fallen Oak Distilling — conveniently at the same location.

We ended the day walking through over a million holiday lights at Brookside Gardens, which was the perfect way to slow down and enjoy the moment.

If you’re looking for easy, memorable date ideas, Montgomery County has no shortage of options.

Wonder what it’s like to stay at the Gaylord National Harbor Resort during the holidays? See below to plan for your 2026 Staycation.

Never been to New York for the Holiday? Here’s your sign to go this week or plan for the 2026 holiday season.
