Free at last, Free at last, thank God I am free at last. It’s time for MLK Weekend which give many the day off along with the kids. Some things we like to do for MLK is share a movie or book about equality and what does that look like in today’s word. Maybe standing up to a bully at school or helping a child who may be disabled. We are all people and created equal. A question to ask yourself and others, What does kindness mean to you? How can you do or show more of it in 2026?

🌟 Idea of the Week: Serve Together, Remember Together
MLK Day is a day on, not a day off—and one of the best ways to honor it is by doing something meaningful as a family.
This weekend, choose ONE simple act of service and do it together.
Ideas that work for all ages:
Write thank-you or encouragement notes for teachers, first responders, or healthcare workers
Donate gently used coats, books, or toys (let the kids help choose)
Make sandwiches or care bags for a local shelter
Pick up trash at a nearby park or neighborhood
Volunteer for a short shift at a community center or food bank
👉 Tip: Let your kids help decide how you serve. Ownership = engagement.

After, talk about how it felt—and take a photo. This is the kind of memory that sticks.
