July 2025 Happy 4th

Things to do, Events and Travel from Baltimore to Beyond!

July 4th

It’s 4th of July weekend….yayy a vacation day awaits us or extra pay if you are working on the holiday. Are you going anywhere, doing anything? I hope you make the most of this holiday weather you rest and relax or watch some fireworks this weekend.

I was cringe this past weekend….

This past weekend, I was cringe

I stood under the big top at the UniverSoul Circus in National Harbor, lights shining down, crowd in front of me, mic in hand — and I was ready. I stepped out with a huge smile and yelled, “This circus is lit… like ME!” expecting laughs, cheers, something.

Silence.
Crickets.
Just pow me now….I was so embarassed.

I forced a “Welcome to the UNIVERSOULLLLL circus, hope y’all have a great time!” and walked off feeling defeated, embarrassed, and honestly… a little dumb. I kept thinking, Why didn’t I write something better? Why didn’t I prepare more?

But then I remembered something I say to myself often:
Growth is in cringe moments.

When I first started in social media, I used to hide my phone while filming, terrified someone would catch me recording. Pulling out a tripod in public? Please. I’d rather vanish into the floor. Who did I think I was — Lisa Summers, content creator? The idea felt laughable.

But I kept going.
Even when I felt awkward.
Even when I felt cringe.
Even when no one clapped.

And now, two years later, look where we are. I’ve built a community I love (that includes YOU), created content that sells out events, and am stepping into new rooms, even if they don't always clap for me yet.

Because here's the truth: I want to be a speaker. And this weekend? This “flop” on stage? It wasn’t a failure — it was the first page of that new chapter.

So if you're scared of being cringey, embarrassed, or not getting it right the first time — go do it anyway.

Cringe is the cost of growth.
Cringe is where confidence is built.
And one day, you’ll look back and be so grateful you didn’t let fear stop you.

Keep showing up, even when it’s awkward.
Because that’s where the magic starts. 💫

If this resonated with you, drop me a reply as I’d love to hear what you are trying to grow in this season.
