December is finally here and I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or bad that the year just flew by! What do you think?
For the next few months MTA is giving away free rides in Maryland. New users can download the app and experience taking transit for themselves. You need to download the app between December 1-8 or January 1-8 and do this survey form to qualify. I used used transit to get the the Baltimore Christmas Village and the harbor.
If you already have the app and use MTA transit you could get getting rewards and cash for rides. All you have to is download the CommuterCash app. See details here.

Sidenote: I sent my Ultimate Holiday Fun Guide last week earlier than my usually Tuesday so if you missed it, go check back. It has everything you need as far as the hottest pop-up bars, holiday lights and winter activities in one list for you to quickly find where you want to visit.
Far as December events, there are a lot of unique holiday events popping up this season— but the most surprising might be the kids’ pop-up bars. Yep, you read that right. Elf Pop-Up Bar in Towson and Cheers from the Shelf at Morris Bar in D.C. both transform their spaces into over-the-top elf displays with mocktails, snacks, photo ops, music, and kid-friendly activities. It’s definitely a memorable family outing… but I’m curious:

Holiday Fun at the Gaylord National Resort - National Harbor
I have to give a special shoutout to the Gaylord Hotel at National Harbor. You can spend the night in a Christmas room with your whole family to add an extra touch but with or without a room you can do everything at their hotel. They have the free glow laser show and there is an acrobatic show that you can watch free from the 2nd floor or pay to get up close. There is a scavenger hunt and wild life rescue augmented reality experience free too! The Christmas village with ICE! is there but dd you know there is a bar on the 18th floor? It’s decorated for the season during this time.
Winter Wonderfest at Nationals Park - DC
A fun experience at $29.50/pp and all activities inside are included. Has a special 21+ area including a speakeasy.
New Live K Location
Located on the waterfront at the National Harbor. It’s 21+ to hang in the bar area but any age if you rent a karaoke room.
